E-Bike Charging Tips

It’s that time of year again when many put their E-bikes away for the winter months. Here are some ways you can prolong the overall life of your EnergyPak battery:
Storing your battery long term at 0% or 100% can put unnecessary strain on the cells. It’s best to store at a 60% charge level (3 of 5 LED’s). You can run the battery down to this level by riding or, if you have a Smart Charger or Smart Charger Compact, you can simply use the “Long term storage” mode button. It’s also advisable to remove your EnergyPak from the bike and store in a cool/room temperature and dry environment.
When charging your EnergyPak battery off the bike, we advise you make a habit of plugging the battery adapter into the battery first and the charger into a power source second. When plugged into the power source first the charger “preloads” with power and in very rare cases, if the adapter is plugged into the EnergyPak battery incorrectly, it can result in an electrical short and a battery in need of replacement.
